How to stop emerald ash borer

Backyard landscaping is how you can have the garden that you always wanted. There are some types of low maintenance landscaping, such as having a rock garden. This is one of the landscaping design ideas that is popular based on the fact that landscaping that requires mowed grass can cost a lot of money.

But even if one does start a rock garden, there are certain aspects of backyard landscaping that should be kept in the forefront. One of these is that the emerald ash borer can be highly destructive when it comes to ash trees. This insect was not discovered until around 2002 in Michigan, but they tend to burrow deep into the trees where they lay their eggs.

It can be difficult to pick up or find the larvae of emerald ash borers because they are often the color of the bark of ash trees themselves. They are white and create S shaped galleries and tunnels in the bark. This can be devastating to the environment, because ash tree seeds are an important food source for birds and mammals.

Of all the ash trees in the United States, there are at least 16 species which are susceptible to this invasive insect species. This is why landscape design ideas should keep in mind the best methods for keeping creatures like this at bay. Backyard landscaping can include emerald ash borer control ideas.

Of course, backyard landscaping is something that often requires years of experience before it can be done right. But there are many methods for ensuring that the emerald ash borers stay away from your backyard. Spraying may work, but after the ground is infested, it might require that you release wasps that will destroy the ash borer eggs. Making an inhospitable climate for the ash borer before it arrives is always a good method.

I like the idea of hiring someone for backyard landscaping but landscape architects often charge lots and lots of money. You would be surprised at how expensive landscape architecture can be.
